Promotional Requirements for Grade 8 and 9
- For promotion a Grade 8 and 9 learner must:
- achieve 50% in English Home Language
- achieve 40% in Afrikaans First Additional Language and Mathematics
- achieve 40% in any three of the other required subjects
- achieve 30% in any two of the other required subjects
Subject and passing requirements in Gr 10-12 (FET)
To achieve the National Senior Certificate a learner must study seven nationally approved subjects, constituted as follows:
- English Home Language
- Afrikaans First Additional Language
- Mathematics , Mathematics Literacy, Alpha Maths
- Life Orientation
Three other subjects from the following list:
- Life Science / Natural Science
- Physical Science
- Social Science / Geography
- Creative Arts / Visual Arts
- Economic Science
- Computer Information Technology
- Computer Application Technology
- Information Technology
- History
- Business Studies / Accounting
- Engineering Graphics and Design / Technology
- Consumer Studies
- Tourism
- Dramatic Arts
To be promoted in Gr 10 to 12 a learner should achieve:
- A minimum of 40% in three subjects, one of which is English Home Language
- A minimum of 30% in three other subjects
