From Grade 8 through to Grade 12, we support every learner on their journey to academic success and future opportunities.
Grade 8 & 9 Promotional Requirements
To be promoted from Grade 8 or 9, a learner must achieve the following:
English Home Language: Minimum of 50%
Afrikaans First Additional Language: Minimum of 40%
Mathematics: Minimum of 40%
Any Three Other Subjects: Minimum of 40%
Any Two Remaining Subjects: Minimum of 30%
Grade 10–12 Promotion Requirements
To be promoted in the FET phase (Grade 10–12), learners must meet the following:
40% or more in three subjects, including English Home Language
30% or more in three additional subjects

To qualify for the National Senior Certificate (NSC), learners must study seven nationally approved subjects, made up as follows:
